Frequently asked questions
Is SnapID really free?
Yes — during launch week everything is free with no signup and no watermark. Afterwards a one-time $5.99 unlocks high-resolution downloads; there is never a subscription.
Are the photos accepted for official documents?
SnapID crops to the exact official dimensions and verifies the crown-to-chin head height against each authority’s published range (e.g. 1–1⅜ in for US passports). Follow the photo-taking tips (even lighting, neutral expression, no glasses) and the result meets the published requirements. Final acceptance is always decided by the issuing authority.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Face detection, background removal and cropping run entirely in your browser with on-device AI models. Your photo never leaves your device — there is no server that could store it.
How do I print the photo?
Download the print sheet (4×6 in, 5×7 in or A4 at 300 DPI) and print it at any pharmacy, photo kiosk or home printer as a standard photo print — typically $0.35–$0.50, versus $15+ for a drugstore passport-photo service.
Which documents are supported?
US passport & visa, US green card / DV lottery, UK, EU/Schengen, Canada, China, India, Japan, Australia and Singapore — each with its official size, head-height range and background rule.
